Saturday Snapshot April 2, 2011
Alyce from At Home With Books hosts a weekly meme called Saturday Snapshot. To participate all you have to do is post a photo taken by you (or a friend or family member.) Please make sure it is clean and appropriate for all eyes to see and leave a direct link to your post at the Mr Linky on Alyce's blog. Was searching for something on the ground when this bird started making a terrible fuss. It was then that I noticed the eggs she was protecting. (You can see them in the photo right behind her legs.)

That striped face look quite menacing too! How funny that she builds a nest among the stones instead of something softer and more hidden.
ReplyDeleteDon't mess with a mama bird with eggs! They are a bit difficult to spot in the background--good camouflage by mother nature!

Wow those eggs blend in well with the little stones don't they? Pretty bird--wondering what kind of bird that is?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot. This was a good bird day on Saturday Snapshot!
ReplyDeleteThat is such an unusual looking bird, especially the stripes on it's neck! I never would have seen the eggs had you not pointed them out.
ReplyDelete@ Trish- she was very menacing
ReplyDelete@ Bev- perfectly camouflaged
@ Diane- I believe it's a kildeer
@Col- It was a great day for bird photos. I love shots of wildlife!
@Alyce- the eggs were difficult to see. Thanks for hosting Saturday Snapshot. I am really enjoying taking a peek at everyone else's lives!
